Business Beware’s Start-up Spotlights

The founder of the start-up:

Bonnie Marcus is the founder and owner of The Bonnie Marcus Collection.

What sparked the idea for The Bonnie Marcus Collection:

While working as a wedding planner in New York City and as the Director of Special Events at the 92nd Street Y, Bonnie coordinated numerous events for celebrities and notables on a daily basis. Working with her fashion-forward and stylish clients, Bonnie seemed to constantly run into the issue of the proper invitations to send out to their guests. At the time, most of the invites available were very traditional, not suited for these events.

Bonnie began custom designing invitations for her clients’ events, matching the theme of the event, as well as the client’s personality… leading to an even bigger project, the launch of the Bonnie Marcus Collection in 2002.

“Now, 10 years, 3 children, and over 3000 designs later, Bonnie is selling her successful collection to over 1000 high-end retailers like Bloomingdales, Bed Bath and Beyond and Saks Fifth Avenue.”

Some background on The Bonnie Marcus Collection:

In addition to manufacturing her own line of invitations, in October, Bonnie will have an exciting collaboration of American Greetings and Bonnie Marcus designs found in the greeting card aisles of Targets nationwide! So check them out!

Why we think she’s awesome:

One thing that we love about Bonnie is her passion for her business and the creativity that she has for it. Another amazing fact about Bonnie is that once she decided to follow her passion with the collection, she began working full time on them, had three children, and is rocking it! There is nothing better than a woman that can be an awesome mommy and still manage to run such a successful business!

Also… Bonnie states… she is “one with her customer base.” We love when business owners take the time to praise their customers (good customers that is…). When people like Bonnie appreciate their customers, customers will more than likely show that same respect in turn.
