Business Beware’s Start-up Spotlights

The founder of the start-up:

Alex Andon and is the founder and president of Jellyfish Art.

What sparked the idea for Jellyfish Art:

The idea for Jellyfish Art came to Alex when visiting the Monterey Bay Aquarium. Here Alex realized just how popular jellyfish exhibits were. It did not take long for Alex’s passion to lead him to start Jellyfish Art and bring to life an, at the time, unthinkable market.

The background of Jellyfish Art:

The background of Jellyfish Art begins when the first jellyfish exhibits opened in public aquariums years ago. More and more people began visiting the jellyfish tanks at the aquariums, starting a new trend in aquarium marine life. This trend made it clear that people enjoyed watching the jellyfish, but there was no market for jellyfish food or tanks at this point. After some “tinkering and experimenting,” Jellyfish Art was created and began selling jellyfish, approved tanks, and jellyfish food through a simple website. It did not take long for people to begin purchasing jellyfish and the products online… kick starting Jellyfish Art to where they are now.

Why we think they’re awesome:

As you all know, we love our entrepreneurs and their bright minds! Alex took his fascination of jellyfish and built a business around a niche that was needed for jellyfish to be enjoyed by all that shared his interest in the sea creatures. In order to create the specialized tanks for jellyfish, Alex had to perfect the water flow patterns that will help to keep the jellyfish healthy and properly displayed. His passion is evident by Jellyfish Art and the niche market tha the has created from ground up!
